European
Culture
and History
Many European countries have histories that fascinate travellers
from the "New World". The splendid architectural ruins of
Ancient Greece and Rome, the vibrancy and bustle of London
or Paris, the clean air, beautiful villages and magnificent castles of
the Swiss and Austrian Alps, all are accessible to family travellers.
The
Far East
More exotic are regions of Asia and the far
east, which offer fascinating glimpses into different, ancient,
cultures.
Ancient
and modern together
Many parts of Central and South America allow the visitor to actually
experience co-existing ancient and modern cultures - as evidenced in
dress, language, architecture, festivals and customs.
Time
Constraints
Certain European
destinations (London and Paris) are well served from large Canadian cities
by charter airlines. These are usually lower priced than scheduled
airlines, though flights are not offered daily, and are often
seasonal.
For the other
destinations, scheduled airlines are the only choice. Most flights are
offered daily, so you can be pretty flexible regarding your travel dates.
You should remember to give yourself plenty of time to explore - we
suggest that you don't try to see all of Europe in a week!
A
very rough budget guide
In Western Europe, and
Britain especially, you will find that prices will be significantly higher
than Canada (and even much of the USA) for food and accommodation.
Flights to the far
east destinations are relatively expensive. Once you are there, you can
find basic, inexpensive, accommodation and food, or super-luxurious
resorts with prices to match!
For destinations in
Central and South America the cost of accommodations and food is low,
though you should expect the facilities to be much more basic than North
American standards.
We
would like to remind you about the "Destination
Shortcut" menu found at the top of each page. This is a convenient
way to easily navigate to the destinations which we feature. |
